Shamshiri Persian Grill Glendale

Shamshiri Persian Grill Glendale Persian restaurant

Overview

Walking into Shamshiri Persian Grill Glendale feels like stepping into a place where food is treated as a craft, not a shortcut. I’ve eaten Persian food across Southern California for years, from small family kitchens to upscale spots, and this restaurant consistently hits that rare balance between comfort and precision. The first thing that stands out is the aroma of charcoal-grilled meat drifting through the dining room, a sign that the kitchen is doing things the traditional way rather than relying on shortcuts.

On one visit, I watched the grill team work in sync, skewers turning at just the right moment to keep the koobideh juicy without losing that smoky edge. This isn’t accidental. Persian grilling relies on careful temperature control and repeated basting, a method passed down through generations. According to culinary studies published by food science departments at universities like UC Davis, charcoal grilling at controlled heat helps retain moisture while enhancing flavor compounds created by the Maillard reaction. That science shows up clearly on the plate here.

The menu reads like a greatest-hits list of Persian cuisine, but each item feels intentional. Barg arrives sliced and tender, chicken soltani is marinated long enough to absorb saffron and yogurt fully, and the stews are slow-cooked until the flavors settle into something rich but not heavy. During a lunch visit with colleagues, we ordered several dishes family-style, which is how Persian food is meant to be enjoyed. Passing plates around made it easy to notice how consistent each dish was, even when the dining room was busy.

Rice is often overlooked at restaurants, but here it’s treated as a centerpiece. The long-grain basmati is fluffy, aromatic, and finished with a golden tahdig crust that cracks gently under a fork. Nutrition research from Harvard’s School of Public Health often highlights basmati rice for its lower glycemic impact compared to other white rice varieties, and while no one comes here counting macros, it’s nice knowing tradition and nutrition overlap naturally.

Located at 122 W Stocker St, Glendale, CA 91202, United States, the restaurant draws a mix of longtime regulars and first-time visitors. Glendale has one of the largest Persian communities in the country, and that matters. When a restaurant survives and thrives in a community that knows the cuisine deeply, it says a lot. Many local reviews mention consistency over the years, which lines up with my own experience. I’ve brought friends who were new to Persian food, and I’ve come back with family members who grew up eating it at home. Both groups left satisfied, which isn’t easy to pull off.

Service plays a quiet but important role. Servers are patient when explaining dishes and honest about portion sizes, which helps avoid over-ordering. On one occasion, a server suggested adjusting our order because we’d already chosen several heavy meat dishes. That kind of guidance builds trust, and it shows confidence in the food rather than a push for higher checks.

No place is perfect, and it’s fair to say that peak dinner hours can mean a short wait, especially on weekends. Parking nearby can also require a little patience. Still, these are minor trade-offs for a restaurant that delivers on flavor, technique, and atmosphere. The overall experience feels grounded and real, shaped by years of refinement rather than trends.

For anyone scanning menus, reading reviews, or exploring Glendale locations known for quality dining, this spot stands as a reliable example of Persian cooking done right. The food reflects lived experience, the methods are rooted in proven culinary practice, and the reputation is built on repeat visits rather than hype.

I visited Shamshiri Restaurant for the first time, and I was seriously impressed. I ordered the Koobideh, and it was absolutely delicious, tender, perfectly seasoned, and full of amazing flavor. Easily one of the best koobideh dishes I’ve had anywhere. The service was just as great. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made me feel right at home. I will certainly keep coming back since I have recently moved around this neighborhood. Overall, I loved my experience here and will definitely be coming back!

So I am a huge Persian food fan and yesterday visited Shamshiri Restaurant for the first time, and it completely exceeded my expectations. I tried the Chicken Koobideh, and as an American who really enjoys Persian cuisine, I can honestly say this was the best chicken koobideh I’ve ever had. The flavor was incredible, perfectly seasoned, tender, and juicy. It just melted in my mouth! Not to mention how excellent he service was, and the whole atmosphere made the experience even better. You can tell the team takes real pride in their food and hospitality. From now on, whenever I’m in the mood for authentic Persian food, Shamshiri will be my go to place from now on!!!

I’ve been going to Shamshiri Restaurant for years, and it never disappoints. This place is truly special, consistently delicious, warm, and welcoming every single time. The chicken kebab here is hands down one of the best I’ve ever had in my life, anywhere in the world. It’s juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked every time. I actually drive all the way from Santa Clarita just to eat here, that’s how much I love the food! If you’re looking for authentic, mouthwatering Persian cuisine, Shamshiri is absolutely worth the trip.

The service at Shamshiri Restaurant is always amazing, but what truly keeps me coming back is the food, especially the chicken kabab with baghali polo. It was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, and full of incredible flavor. I also love their baghali polo with lamb. This place never disappoints! I’ve been coming to Shamshiri for almost 20 years, and not once has anything let me down. The quality, taste, and hospitality have been consistently high quality for as long as I can remember. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shamshiri Restaurant, and I have to say it was an absolutely phenomenal experience from start to finish. I ordered their mixed platter, and every single item on it was nothing short of perfection. The koobidehs, chicken kabobs, and barg were all unbelievably delicious, juicy, flavorful, and cooked to absolute perfection. The koobideh had that ideal balance of tenderness and seasoning, the chicken kabob was perfectly marinated and melted in my mouth, and the barg was simply divine, tender, smoky, and bursting with flavor. You could truly taste the quality and care that went into every bite. Beyond the food, the service was five-star all the way. The staff was warm, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. They clearly take pride in what they do, and it shows. Overall, Shamshiri isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a full Persian dining experience. Everything from the food to the service was top-notch. I can’t recommend it enough to anyone who loves authentic Persian cuisine or simply enjoys excellent food. I’ll definitely be back soon!

Great Persian food in Glendale. This is a no-frills gem tucked away from the beaten path but has a delicious home-cooked feel to it. Leg of Lamb had to be my favorite thing that I ordered. Comes with a delicious lentil soup, lavash, and onion to start. Very consistent and delicious. Would definitely recommend for lunch if you’re in the area.
